This morning began with the most delish Green Monster: Halo, our kitty was extremely curious as to what this green concotion was. Hmmmm. I also had my favorite breakfast addition of late of the GF blueberry pumkin muffin with AB and some extra pumpkin for slathering. I've got to say after having this breakfast for a few days in a row, this is one of the most filling breakfast combos I have tried. I am usually very hungry all morning long until lunch, but this actually holds me all the way until lunch time, I just ate a small snack this morning of some raw nuts before lunch to keep my metabolism going, but I wasn't hungry. This morning's GM included:
1/2 scoop 365 vanilla protein powder
1 cup almond milk (unsweetened vanilla)
1/2 cup canteloupe
1 frozen banana
1 big handful lightly steamed organic kale courtesy of mom :)
and ice of course
It was glorious.
I also did something I haven't done in a long time this morning, I packed a lunch. I have been very disorganized in this department here lately. I've been flying by the seat of my pants so to speak :) I've just been going into work with no plans for lunch, then I usually end up buying lunch or worse, making a last minute trip to the grocery store for lunch ingredients. This is wreaking absolute havoc on my budget!! So this weekend while at Barnes and Noble I was perusing this book about a family that is super budget savvy and they feed their family of 7 on $350 a month!! That's amazing, and they attribute it all to meal planning. So anyway, I was inspired, and I thought about all the food that I let go to waste every week, or the weeks I don't buy enough food because I am tired of over buying, etc. and I decided I was going to pack a lunch with ingredients found in my fridge. And I'm planning on doing this the rest of the week, and this weekend going into my grocery shopping with something that resembles a meal plan, even it's loose.
So here was my "everything" salad made from stuff found in my fridge.

Baby greens with herbs
1/4 avocado
some shaved carrot
several tiny sweet grapes
several perfectly ripe fat juicy blueberries (this was a good addition!)
1/3 cup garbonzo beans for protein and yumminess
sprinkle of feta on top
I topped it off with some ginger pear dressing that I still had in the fridge at work. I also took a macaroon for dessert and some cantaloupe and carrot sticks for snacking.
I was soooo much happier eating the lunch that I brought instead of buying lunch somewhere. I think I can stick to this new plan as long as I always bring food that I'm excited to eat.
It was absolutely delicious! I love fruity salads!
I will however most likely continue to eat lunch out on Fridays because that's kind of a tradition at the studio and I love our Friday lunches, but I think four days a week will make a huge difference, we'll see.
After lunch, we needed a little escape before returning to the grind, so we hopped on over to Fresh Blends, a new juice/smoothie bar down the street, and I had this FABULOUS green juice, I think it was called Green Supreme, it had Granny Smith apple, lemon, spinach, kale, ginger and celery. Sounds appetizing right? Well, it was amazing!! I definitely see a new addiction in my future. Before yoga, I came home and ate a half of a banana with some almond butter, and a macaroon also slathered with some AB. I'm a fan of power snacks before working out.
Yoga was so much fun tonight, we did lots of new stuff and we worked on inversions at the end, I did two headstands and a handstand, we also did splits up the wall, which was new, LoL, you actually do a forward fold up against the wall, then you just take one of your legs and slide it straight up the wall behind you, it's crazy, but I was actually able to do full splits this way. I followed yoga up with some weight training, I did triceps, biceps, shoulders and traps.

I came home and promptly made a banana protein shake with half a banana, 1 cup almond milk and 3/4 scoop vanilla protein powder. Lovely and delicious it was.
I also had some watermelon left over from the fourth and a granny smith apple. Sometimes the best food is just the most simple.
I think all together, I probably could have had more protein today, but I did snack on raw nuts throughout the day, so hopefully that helped.
